Our story
When I moved to Dublin as an internationally qualified lawyer, one of my first questions was how I could qualify as a solicitor in Ireland. My research led me to the FE-1 examinations.
I soon discovered that understanding the qualification process was only the beginning. Study materials were scattered across different sources. Notes were passed around without clear dates or updates. Past questions were available, but useful guidance on how to answer them was limited. In some areas, it was difficult to know whether the material reflected the current position of Irish law.
The amount of information felt overwhelming, and the available preparation courses were expensive. I registered with an FE-1 preparation provider, but I kept thinking about candidates who could not afford the same option, as well as working professionals, international lawyers and self-study candidates trying to prepare without a clear system.
That was where the idea for FE-1 Made Simple began.
I started creating the kind of resource I had been looking for: clear explanations, reliable notes, relevant case law and practical exam guidance, all organised around the needs of FE-1 candidates.
As I progressed through the examinations, the idea grew beyond notes. Candidates also needed flexible lessons, focused revision materials, realistic past-question practice, timed simulations and useful feedback on their answers.
FE-1 Made Simple is the result: a connected study system built from the experience of preparing for the exams and understanding how difficult that journey can feel. My hope is that it gives every candidate a clearer, more confident and more accessible way to prepare.
What we have built
Build understanding with Complete Study Notes, structured lessons, video and audio lessons, and the Case Law Library.
Use Exam-Ready Notes to revise the key rules, authorities and answer structures closer to your sitting.
Attempt past questions, work under timed conditions and sit full exam simulations to build pace and confidence.
Use feedback and progress tools to identify missing issues, weak structure and areas that need more attention.
What we believe
Legal principles should be explained clearly without removing the detail candidates need for the exam.
Our materials focus on the Irish authorities, legislation and exam requirements FE-1 candidates need to know.
Candidates need to recall the law, apply it to problems and practise writing within the available time.
Technology can make study and feedback more accessible, but it should not replace legal accuracy or independent thinking.
How our materials are developed
Our content is organised around the eight FE-1 subjects and the way candidates need to understand, remember and apply the law in the exam.
Candidates can move from learning a topic to testing it without rebuilding their study system elsewhere.
Our team
A small team building a clearer and more accessible way to prepare.
